Ayo Labinjoh, the woman who insists that her teenage daughter Anu Adeleke is the biological child of music star Davido, has once again spoken out, pushing back hard against critics and introducing new allegations into the long running controversy.
In a lengthy statement shared publicly, Ayo dismissed claims that she is desperate to attach her daughter to the singer because of his wealth or status. According to her, such arguments do not hold water because Davido was neither globally famous nor extremely wealthy at the time they met. She said she encountered him in early 2013 in Ibadan when he was still a fast rising artiste known mainly for his breakout hit and for being the son of a businessman.
She maintained that her fight has never been about money or clout but about her child’s identity and dignity. Ayo argued that if Davido had been poor, she would still have pursued the matter with the same determination, insisting that a mother’s duty to her child does not depend on the father’s bank account. Addressing Davido’s repeated claims that multiple DNA tests had already confirmed Anu is not his child, Ayo flatly rejected that narrative. She alleged that there were no such formal tests involving her daughter and claimed that the singer was loosely referring to his acknowledged children with other women when he spoke about five DNA tests. Ayo further alleged that Davido was fully aware of their past relationship and accused him of deliberately avoiding an independent and transparent DNA process. She also claimed that he sent her money during her daughter’s naming ceremony in November 2013, suggesting that this action contradicts his public denials.
The woman did not spare media personalities who have openly defended the singer. She criticised Daddy Freeze for publicly declaring Davido not to be Anu’s father during a live broadcast, accusing him of protecting the artiste’s image rather than pushing for a neutral DNA test. She contrasted this with the silence of other prominent figures close to the Adeleke family, noting that similar paternity disputes had occurred in the past.
In her remarks, Ayo suggested that children who are ignored or denied eventually find their voices, adding that her daughter has faced insults, bullying and threats since speaking up. She claimed promises were made to release alleged DNA results to the public but said these never materialised. She went on to make further assertions, including claims of attempted contact from Davido years later, which she questioned, asking whether it was driven by renewed interest or by her daughter’s growing public presence online.
Ayo ended her message with harsh words directed at the singer, accusing him of failing in his responsibilities and drawing a sharp line between being a biological parent and acting as one. The renewed outburst has once again stirred debate online, with opinions sharply divided as the paternity dispute continues to play out in the public eye.
